No they have no idea that it never was the temple mound in the first place. It used to be called the Baris and later became for Antonia which housed the tenth legion of the Roman army. Now historicaly and archeologicaly this is very embarassinng to scholars who have been saying for years that this place was the temple mount. But even more embarassing is the spiritual shame of it all. The Jew would never even look at this place out of disdain for the gentile ocupation forces. They would not be caught dead speaking to a Roman. Jerusalem was raised to the ground in 70AD by the tenth Roman legion. The only reason that the fort still stood is that the Romans were garissoned there. Imagine an army stupid enough to raise a town and destroy there own house at the same time. Hey where are we going to sleep tonight. So the only people who might have a claim that this place is somehow holy is the Christians because that is where Jesus was brought to face Pilate and the Muslim because they claim that that is where Muhamad ascended into heaven. The real temple mound is actually located six hundred yards south of this location on top of the Gihon springs. If the Jews were to ask for a building permit there it would be given to them the very next day and there would be peace in Jerusalem. They could start building the temple right away like a puzzle all the pieces are already made all that would have to be done is some foundation work. Just like I build the body with truth the temple is also going to be built on a foundation of truth.
